Oscar winner to judge at River Town Film Festival
CLINTON, N.J. – The River Town Film Festival in Clinton, New Jersey is underway.
The first annual festival will screen 26 different movies, many of them made by local film makers.
Mayor Janice Kovach helped organize the festival and said it incorporates art, music, and film with a focus on community.
“We thought it was going to be this little small-day event in one room but it has turned into a two-and-a-half-day extravaganza,” Kovach said.
Academy Award-winning writer Ernest Thompson is also screening one of the films he created at the festival.
Thompson told 69 News that teaching filmmaking to anyone who wants to learn is important to him and said small festivals like River Town are good places to learn.
“People are redefining what the film business is. There is still the blockbuster, but now is the opportunity for anyone to be involved with movies,” Thompson said.
