About

What can I say about John Davidson that hasn’t been said a million times? I can say that he has a voice more beautiful and vast than the Sea of Cortez, where he spends the winter months on his boat, and a heart bigger than that, proven each summer by his sold-out audiences at Club Sandwich, his New Hampshire treasure of a music venue, where ecstatic folks sing along to his infectious songs — I know, I wrote a couple of ‘em — and leave not wanting to leave, taking home indelible memories and the inescapable realization that they’ve just experienced a phenomenon truly unique and timeless.

To know John, as I’ve come to, is to understand that there’s no limit to his talent and no containing his exuberant spirit and joie de vivre. Like everyone in my business, I’ve always known who John Davidson is, from his inimitable humor and the finesse he brought to guest-hosting The Tonight Show more times than any other musician and from his stints on Hollywood Squares and That’s Incredible. When I heard that he’d be appearing in my play On Golden Pond, I regretted that the theatre wasn’t  closer to where I live and when he popped up on our public interest show, New Hampshire Chronicle, I found reaching out to him irresistible. He’s got that kind of magnetism.

You can hear him here nailing the New Hampshire anthem I wrote with the great Art Harriman, “Live Free or Die,” and then it’ll be your turn to try to resist John’s allure when he sings the song I wrote with him, “Keep the Party Going.” That says it all.
